The lid has a retaining magnet on it. The construction is made of steel. Any standard size can be opened. The activation lever is replaceable.
👤Purchase because of positive feedback. It worked for five months, then stopped. It's a piece of trash. Don't buy it. The one-month limit for returns made the seller refuse to take it back. This was very expensive and the seller and Amazon should make an exception. If it were my company, I would make that exception. It was beautiful, but never worked well. My husband had the same problems when he tried it many times. It's not the cans, it's the start place, it's a big hole, and it's for many different cans. It was a lemon.
👤There are several models that look alike but they don't perform well, and this is the better one. This was a present for my wife. She thought it was the older one she had. Heavy cans seem to be a problem, but this one seems to hold up to normal use. It is hard to tell the cheap model from the more durable model, but I think this is the durable model because it is performing very well and no current issues.
👤I bought a new item to replace my old one. I only used this product a few times over the course of 8 months. The thing is useless after the handle broke. I don't recommend buying this product. It will not last.
👤The opener no longer works after the metal guide post fell off. I ordered the opener in June of last year and it didn't last very long because I only used it once every other week. Over the years, I've bought a few Cuisinart products and it seems their quality is going down hill. I bought a new version of their grill and pan after only a few months of use and now the drips are running all over the counter which is a fire hazard.
👤I've had an under counter can opener for a long time. I loved it! It was hidden under the last shelf in my appliance garage so it wouldn't interfere with the other appliances. It died. I searched everywhere for a new replacement. I picked this one up after sucking it up. I like the heavy bottom because it will hold cans. It is stable. It has enough job opening cans. I miss my space saver.
👤We bought it in February of last year. We haven't used it much because we've been eating out. It was hard to get it to work and now won't work at all. Money was wasted.
👤I decided to buy an electric can opener. I have purchased cheaper ones in the past and they don't make it a year without something breaking on them. This one is very sturdy and nice to look at. It will make it more than a year if the extra money is spent correctly. I feel confident that this one will make it, as it seems very sturdy. I don't use but I pay a little more for it. You will see the difference in quality.
Light weight, low noise, and Beautifully Hand Carved Design make it easy to carry. The electric can opener cuts cans along the sides for smooth, touchable lids. 165 W is the wattage. It's not necessary to struggle with or handle sharp and messy pop-top lids anymore. The cans are easy to open with one hand. The Hamilton Beach can opener has a sleek chrome and black design that looks great on the countertop. The motor of your can opener will not need oiling.
👤I liked the can opener before. It opened every can without any problems. It won't open cans for two months. Absolutely not, even after a thorough cleaning. Hamilton Beach will be contacted soon for repair or replacement. We will see what happens. I read the warranty and found that I am responsible for shipping both ways for repair or replacement. The cost of the can opener would be more than the cost of shipping. It's not worth it. Hamilton Beach wants us to pay for the shipping so that they don't have to replace or repair a product. Do you want to buy another product from Hamilton Beach? I don't think so. I don't think anyone should. I have reconsidered this statement. I have changed my review to 4 stars because I overreacted. A piece of metal from opening a can jammed the cutter wheel and kept it from turning. The can opener stopped working. The four screws at the back of the opener were removed. The screw holding the cutter was removed. I was able to wiggle room for the cutter, but I was not able to remove it. I lubricated the cutter and cleaned it out. It works now. You would think that Hamilton Beach would address this problem. Their return policy is the reason for 4 stars.
👤I really liked the can opener when it was new, but after a long time of daily use, the cans were not being opened. People complain about tiny metal shavings when they run several passes. I was going to disassemble the opener and see if I could find a way to fix it. The red arrow in the picture points to the cutter assembly. The blade is round. The screw holds the blade in place. You can get a fresh cutting edge by rotating the blade around a bit. I had 3 days of perfectly cut cans after rotating the blade. If you try this, it's a good idea to make a vertical line on the front of the blade so you know where to avoid if you have to do it again. Hth, YMMV.
👤Two years ago, I purchased this product. It was great at first, but then I noticed metal on my counter after opening cans. I stopped using metal for safety reasons after seeing lots of metal shavings. I don't want my dogs to ingest metal shavings. I would not buy this product for safety reasons.
👤I have proof that sheRDS of metal are in my food. The can is on the side. This usually doesn't happen. Can anyone help me? I don't know if I need a new Hamilton Beach. Is it necessary to just buy a new brand? I don't want to give a bad review, but my husband was eating metal splinters in his MOUTH, so I didn't give him a bad review. I had to stop him. He said to take the food away and to let me know the next time. It did it again for me. I could get it. A good picture and video. This is very odd to me. This was not a small amount of jewels, it was a collection of metal shards. They were big if you magnified the picture.
SpaceMaker Design includes cord storage and frees your counter. The can opener glides through cans. The built-in bottle opener is easy to use.
👤I received my Spacemaker Can opener today. I was excited to get it. I had one a long time ago and was disappointed when it stopped working. Couldn't find another one at that time. Black and Decker stopped making them. It's a shame. I looked at other sellers on Amazon and they wanted more than $200 for them. Outrageous and greedy! They will be worthless if you sit on them until they get worse. I got a good deal. The original booklet was a pleasant surprise as all pieces were present. There are no signs of weakness or decline. The seller said it was new and I said it was not. The box had only been opened. I was very happy with this purchase. It fit right into the predrilled holes from my other one when it was mounted underneath the cabinets. What are the chances of that happening? The Spacemaker Can opener has found a home and I love it. I'm going to call it Jody. Thank you seller!
👤We had one of these for over 40 years before a piece broke on it. We ordered an open box and the opener worked great. It will live on! You won't be disappointed if you buy one of these.
👤I was surprised that I was able to find a new one. It was a bit stiff.
👤It was the same to replace the broken can opener and it was not necessary to drill new holes.
The can opener and bottle opener are included. There are 3 tools in one store. OpenMate opens plastic packages, pop-top cans, and removes bottle caps. There are stores on top of the unit. Cans of all sizes can be opened with the SureCut technology. The cutting unit is not dirty.
👤The can opener was in good condition when it arrived. I'm happy that it's still available. Both of us have arthritis in our hands and opening jars is difficult. The jar opener has a great feature. The bottle opener is inside the base. The blade is easy to remove and clean. The cut lid is held by a magnet. The previous OpenStation lasted a long time. The model first came out and we bought it. I hope they don't stop this model.
👤My 116lb body landed on my right side after my dog accidentally ran into me while chasing my other dog. I didn't know at the time that landing on your arm in an outstretched position can tear the ulnar collateral ligament, which is similar to a sports injury from throwing a ball. Imagine a bad blood draw where they have to stick the needle in your arm several times and then dig around to find the vein. Imagine that pain 24/7. The manual can opener I've used for over six decades became painful because of the tear in the UCL. I decided to use this can opener after reading reviews. I love it! It's easy to attach the can, but bigger cans need a bit of support. The magnet that is supposed to hold the lid in place doesn't really work, but I want to open the can without pain. It doesn't leave smooth edges so you have to be careful when cleaning the cans. I use a bottle brush to prevent injuries. If you plan on leaving it on the counter, it has a small footprint. People weren't happy about the plastic lever, but if you're not rough with things, it shouldn't be an issue. I usually use the opener every other day, and so far I have not had any problems. I don't think it's loud, it's a can opener, not a radio that you plan on leaving on for a few hours. I think the can opener works great, I purchased it.
👤The can opener works on a regular 15 ounce can, but be careful with larger cans. Hold onto the unit to avoid spills. The cheapest feeling plastic is the top handke. Durability is questionable. Shouldn't we have a metal piece? The design is ridiculous. The magnetic piece only catches the top of the can. It was very annoying to dig it out of the can.
👤I have owned this Can Opener since March 2020. I was not sure when I got it. The blade is made of metal. It is not chrome metal. It is all plastic. It is broken here in October 2020. I can no longer use the mechanism after a small metal piece fell out. The CanOpener was not used often. It was used up to 5 times a week. They don't make them like they used to. My last canopener was 30 years ago. I might go to Goodwill and look for a vintage electric can opener.
👤The can opener had nice features. After only using a dozen times, it broke and wouldn't stop running after the can was opened and removed. It had to be unplugged to stop, and even when it was plugged back in, it kept running. I put it in a box because it broke one day before the return. It's on it's way back. It seemed to have good reviews. I wouldn't recommend it.
Swings out of way when not in use. Counter space is free by the mounts under the cabinet. Automatic shut off makes for a hands free operation. Opens cans of various sizes.
👤The can opener we bought was the same one we had. The lever broke off when the previous one was old. We replaced the model we liked with the same one. It is easy to use and clean.
👤Thank you for the kind words. I don't want to cook for my family. I had to wait for the price to fit into my budget. Ooo.
👤Hardware and spacers are expensive for can openers.
👤I love this product because I learned how to properly open a can. Counter space is saved.
👤To use and clean it is easy to install.
👤My first exact can opener was this one. The first one lasted for twenty years. Just look at it!
👤I own the best can opener.
We offer only the best quality products designed to make your life easier. If you need help, please contact them, their professional customer support is here for you. The design automatically opens cans in seconds. The opener cuts from the side of the can below the rim for safe use. All sizes of cans are suitable for this can opener. The batteries are not included in the battery operated. The quality of the can opener is guaranteed for 2 years. The can opener is easy to use and clean.
👤Is that true? I am not affiliated with the manufacturer and always write from my experience. I received this item for free in exchange for my honest review. It's the same thing. It's not a good thing I have reviewed several of these that claimed to be the be-all to end-all of self- opening can openers. When I got this to review, I was skeptical. I was wrong. This product is made by Zyliss. We made pozole for dinner and for 12 people, this meant 2 cans of hominy. I put the batteries in and watched it do its job. The cans were opened in under 90 seconds, and there were no sharp edges. You can place the unit on the can with the cutting wheel on the outside of the can rim, press the button, and watch it walk around the can. The can is finished when you hear it pop. Wait 3 seconds for the button to stop. It does not have a sensor so that when the can is open it stops. The built-in magnet lifts the lid off the can, making it a nice safe edge. It works with any size can and leaves the edge smooth. It's a breeze to clean up, and it's safe for kids to use. Remove the batteries, front edge, and label from the cutting wheel and you're good to go. You are ready for the next time if you snap it back together. I have spent over $100 on these types of openers and have thrown them out or returned them. I am ordering for all four units of the four-plex to have a home with us. It uses 2 AA batteries, not included, but you can find them in bulk on Amazon. It's not the cheapest of the automatic openers, but it works and that makes it worth a few extra dollars. End of review It's not a good thing Thank you for taking the time to read my review. If you found this review helpful or just had a laugh out of it, please let me know by clicking on theHelpful button below. I would like to thank you in advance. I don't get paid for my reviews, but I try to help potential buyers make an informed choice.
👤I had a can opener that worked for many years, but it died. I went to replace it, but didn't know I would go through so many useless can openers. This one seems to work, I have tried 10 or so of them and this is the only one that seems to work. I am used to that feature, but I am very happy to finally have a small automatic can opener that works.
👤It has a built-in timer for the blade to turn, which gives you plenty of time to open the cans. You can't see where the cutting blade is relative to the can itself, so just a couple of important items to help you. It will take a few tries before you get it right. Make sure you keep the can counter-clockwise to keep the opener from reset. There are four The can will be open when you finish, the lid will be attached to the opener. Highly recommended.
A professional and safe electric can opener is a great gift. Electric can opener is a great gift for beginners and also a great gift for women who are suffering from hand pain or arthritis. A bottle opener and knife. The cans are big and tall.
👤I like it. It is very easy to use. It works perfectly. Never spit, spill or splatter. I have not used the knife sharpener. I have owned it for 3 years and I think I should write a review. After 3 years, it is still working the same way it did when I bought it. It is worth five stars to me. I thought I would use the knife sharpener because my knives don't cut well anymore. I was afraid that I would hurt the million dollar knives that I haven't been using for 6 years, so I decided to use a knife that I had never used before. I have never looked up how tosharpen knives. I think so.
👤The can opener is not worth much. It doesn't work very well, it's hard to put a can in it, the cans fall off when you open them, and the blade assembly falls out when you remove a can. We replaced the B&D can opener we bought 25 years ago with this piece of poorly designed crap because it finally wore out. It is the worst can opener we have ever had. We replaced it with a manual can opener. The manual can opener is easier to use and less messy. Avoid this unit at all costs.
👤There were no replacements for the old spacemaker can opener at the Black & Decker store. They have come up with a replacement that is slightly different. The motor is now rectangular. The mounting screws at the back have to be changed. It has four screws to mount and four long screws to attach to the cabinet's underside. Before you mount the unit, you need to know what you are doing. The can opening is the same no matter the size.
👤When we renovated our kitchen, we needed a new B&D Spacemaker can opener. It was a disaster from the beginning. It was almost impossible to mount it, but we did it. It did not open cans without a struggle. The wheel on the blade broke when I tried to open a small can. The wheel was made of metal. No parts are to be found that I have found. The old Spacemaker was made in the USA and still works. The piece of junk came from China. I still have my old one. I'm thinking about putting it back up. I wouldn't have a Chinese-made model for love or money.
👤This was a replacement for a model that was purchased 15 years ago. The old one was even smaller. I'm very happy with it. We don't have enough counter space for a free-standing one so I couldn't live without it. The overhead cabinet needed to have new holes drilled. Make sure that there is enough vertical space above the blade assembly to allow you to remove it if you need to. The provided spacers may not be enough. I had to make four circles from one of the old spacers.
👤The can opener works well. We have always had under-cabinet units because I like to keep the countertops clean. It's easy to clean if you just pop out the cutter once in a while and put it in the dishwasher. The bottle opener is nice because you can open a beer with one hand. It's much easier to put down the bag of chips than it is to get the church key. If it's a screw off, you don't have to have an opener, but you still have to use two hands, so it's better for a screw off. If you want an under-cab unit, this is the one for you.
A compact and user friendly kitchen device is part of the 4 pact. There are multiple storage options. The can opener is easy to access and mount to the wall, making it convenient to cook with. Purchase includes the brackets and screws. The metal construction isdurable. You can rely on this can opener to get through tough can tops. The body is made of steel. There are three positions to lock. When not being used, this can opener can lock in 3 different positions. SMOOTH AND EASY USAGE. The cutting wheel is made of high-carbon and glides easily across the tops of cans. The cutting is easy to use. A bottle opener is included. There is an integrated magnet that helps lift lids off for safe and easy disposal. The risk of cutting your hands is eliminated.
👤My parents had a Swing-a-way that lasted 40 years, but the new one only lasted a few months. Poor quality materials have made them in China. Good news, there is a fix, you can buy a hand held can opener from Amazon. Swing-a-way wall mounts can be used to change critical parts. A can opener will work for a long time.
👤It was used for over a year. My wife has arthritis in her hands and I got it for her. She hid the opener because she couldn't make it work right. When I tried to show her how to use the roller and cutter, the can kept popping off. I'm good at this sort of thing, but I couldn't keep the can cutting all the way around, no matter how I tried to help it. Look for a quality opener. I bought an electric, under cabinet mount for my sweetheart.
👤I love the can openers on the cabinet side. They last a long time. It is easy to open a can. Cans of all sizes are easy to open. It was easy to install. It took about 10 minutes. This opener is not very strong. The can is being opened and there isn't a magnet to hold the lid. I wouldn't recommend buying this can opener. I would purchase a better one if I put more money into it. This one is not recommended. It is difficult to get the can opener to grab the can around the rim. There is a big problem with the opener when it takes 10 tries to affix a can. I asked my husband to try, but he was so frustrated that he stopped. I don't recommend wall mounted can openers.
👤We used the cabinet after we mounted it. It stopped working after opening 50 cans. The cutter wheel got out of place because of something in it. I can't recommend this product.
👤It might be time to retire that opener from the 50's or 60's if you have to circle the lid like a trailer court girl to get it to separate from the can. After 58 years, my house finally fell down but for the last 10 I'd grown accustomed to going around a few revolutions. I replaced it with a new one that was just as sturdy and well made as the original. These are made in America because Bain capital hasn't discovered the company yet. If your opener takes more than one revolution to release the hitler, then you need one of these more than ever. They work!
👤I saw this can opener on Amazon and was tired of having to buy $5 handheld can openers. I had used this model a few years ago but it wore out after 10 years of use and I haven't seen it in the stores in a while. When I received it, I was disappointed that it was made in China, like everything else. I mounted it on the wall and tried it out because it looked the same as my old one. I was disappointed because it had a sloppy feel to it. There was too much play between the pin that holds the opener and the wall brackets. I thought I would try to tighten the pin with tape, but I decided to use my old opener and it was a better fit for my problem. The rest of the opener is the same as the original.
Refer to the user manual for questions surrounding warranty policies and the product is free. The Kitchen Mama One-Touch can opener is the best hands-free can opening solution for you. It works like a charm because of the 4 AA batteries. Batteries are not included. Push the button to turn it on. Cans are cut along the lid. It's easy to shut off the auto. The blade cuts along the side of the lid without touching the food inside. Leave no sharp objects. It's super safe! The automatic can opener is very useful for elderly people with arthritis and people with gripping issues. Your hands should be treated like royalty. No effort. There was no injury. Save your energy. Save time. Yes, you can.
👤It's easy to open the battery compartment and load the batteries. Doesn't stop going around and doesn't cut the can. It would be great if it worked. I returned the product and did not order it again. I was amazed that I received a replacement from the company at no cost, based on my review. We don't open a lot of cans, but the replacement has worked well for two or three months. Quality control and customer service are the areas where my rating has been updated.
👤It works perfectly, I used it twice so far. It was effortless. You can see the video. The top is lifted by simply lifting the device. No touching or cutting. It doesn't feel sharp if you grab the top of the can with your fingers. If you don't use the entire can, you can just put the top back on and it will fit.
👤The Kitchen Mama One-Touch Electric Can Opener: Auto-Stop has been with us since January 7th. We opened 28 cans on the same set of batteries and it's still going strong. It is an excellent product.
👤Kitchen Mama is a brand to watch. We have been using Black & Decker, but I like the way it feels. The 4 AA batteries are negative for me. The use and care manual suggests thatbatteries might be drained already. Hmm? The holder charges the B & D. I was surprised that it ran on batteries, but there is always double A in a remote. Kitchen Mama seems to be run by some excellent mama's, Customer Service is A+.
👤I thought I had found a replacement for my beloved Chef's Star Smooth Edge Automatic Electric Can opener, but when I tried to open a large can with my new Kitchen Mama One Touch Electric Can opener, it took multiple attempts and opened in. The can opener was the cause of my problems. When I tried to open a regular can of vegetables, it stopped twice, so I started again. I cut my finger on a sharp point on the can, but the lid could not be removed. After I bandaged my cut finger and stopped the bleeding, I started it again and cut a finger on the other hand. I am going to return the can opener instead of throwing it in the trash. There was nothing wrong with the large can or the regular sized can that I tried to open.
👤It's great to put it on top of a can and walk away. You can hear when you need to grab the next ingredient. It was very easy to use.
👤I love this thing. I am blind and getting a can opener that works for me was a pain. I don't need to try to find the edge, just put it on top and turn it on! Thanks!
👤I have heard about this type of can opener before and finally purchased one. Love it. It is easy to use and safe. The edges are not sharp to cut. Will probably get another one for my mom.
Kitchen gifts for arthritis and seniors are perfect for people with arthritis or hand pain. The open lid has a smooth edge. The electric can opener is made ofstainless steel. The cutting mechanism has a magnetic lid lifter. Shuts off automatically; retractable cord storage. The bottle opener is integrated. Measures approximately 6.110 inches W x 5.410 inches L x 9.500 inches H.
👤Headline says it all. I've never had so much trouble opening a can. If the can opens, the lid is hacked up and shards of metal will ruin whatever you spent on it, hoping to use it for a meal. How many meals will be ruined because the opener put metal in your last can of food? You end up spending money on other ingredients when you can't finish making your meal with metal shaving infused ingredients. Everyone who's ever used a can opener says this one is garbage. I hear people say "what the hell is wrong with this thing" and "can you help me open this damn can" a lot. Maybe my is a problem. I'm stuck with it and can't open it. The retractable cord is easy to remove.
👤I don't think it's a good idea to buy it, it's plastic and the lever to open it is cheap, if you push hard it will brake, this should be some. The only reason I ordered this item was because it said it was not plastic. R.G.
👤This is the worst can opener I have ever owned. Don't buy it! The motor is so weak that you have to crank it to open it. It is the worst. I should have returned it. I don't use a can opener very often. I open cans at the same time. It is a hassle in the worst way.
👤It was a terrible purchase, but the first few times I used it, it was great. It will barely open the cans, it just pulls off the paper. Back to the old machine.
👤I bought this garbage two months ago and it won't work anymore. I wouldn't recommend this lemon. Changed from 2 stars to 1 I would not give it a score. If I could. So disappointed. The money was wasted. It does not work all of the time. I have to wrestle with it most of the time to pierce the can and when I finally get it to grab, it won't run or turn the can to cut the lid. I wouldn't recommend it.
👤The roller wheel is difficult to set at the correct angle. The spring-action cutter will not pierce the can once engaged. Just seems to skate on top. Lifting and pressing down the handle will get you to pierce and start cutting, at which point you're homefree. When you raise the handle to remove the can, the powerful magnet will lift the lid off and it will finish cutting the can. Getting it started is hard. I think that tearing up paper around the outside contributes to the problem. Some online complaints say that stripping cans of their labels first seems to help. I thought it was unethical to whine online without trying to talk to them. The product specialist at Oster told me there was no complaint about the can opener. I saw a lot of complaints at their site. I regret buying it and will have to go through the process of sending it to them, asking for a remedy. It was a hassle. I would have to say that it looks pretty. Sounds powerful. It works when it works. It doesn't work often. R&D on this product went to looks.
7-1/4 inches wide by 5 inches high and 6 inches deep. Big in power. The cutter can be removed from the sink or dishwasher. "Power Pierce" punctures the lids. The position can start and let go. It automatically shuts off.
👤It was the same as my previous one. The cost was very high.
👤The screws weren't long enough to fit through the cabinet. It has been on the shelf for 50 years. The box is yellow with age, as is the paper instructions booklet. The opener is yellow. I think it's ridiculous that the model is very old. You would think it would be in gold.
👤The under cabinet can opener was in an open box and didn't have the mount brackets, installation instructions or screws. We used our old brackets because we were replacing our old one. I was very disappointed to get an incomplete item.
👤Don't buy it. It is what it says it is, it came in a box with no instructions, yellow from use and dirty. You will not get a complete refund until it goes back to MD.
👤I bought this to replace the one I bought 20 years ago. My husband removed the mounting brackets and hardware when the old one broke. The new mounting brackets is not as strong as the old one and it does not have the bag opener and knife sharpener.
👤It had no hardware to hang it on my cabinet and it came in a plane box.
👤I disliked the price, but it will be new as advertisement. My mother had one. I wanted one like that. It's easy to use and takes up no room on the counter.
👤The can opener broke the first time we used it. It was very disappointing. It was a waste of money.
