The small cup in the picture is aluminum and stamped square receiver. The end of the stem is rounded off and the aluminum cup is rounded out. One use. The ice cream wasn't churned properly and it didn't work. Proper ice cream texture is dependent on little to no air getting blended in. The housing is durable, but for another dollar in manufacturing costs, this could be a good product. If the dasher stem and cup were made of steel, it would work out well. The cup would have to be made from metal, not stamped, and that would cost pennies. If you throw away your money and don't get ice cream, this is a piece of junk and needs to be avoided. I have a dasher from a previous ice cream maker that fits perfectly, so beware of that one as well. Unless you have a lathe and milling machine and a spare dasher with a steel shaft, stay away.

When I tried to make ice cream that wouldn't freeze, I found out that someone put the drum in the dishwasher. I used the 1 1/2 quart model for my ice cream maker because I overfilled it and it threatened to overflow the ice cream maker. If you've never owned an ice cream maker before, here's an overview. There are two main parts to ice cream. The freezer bowl has a paddle and drum. Before you make ice cream, make sure your freezer bowl is cold enough to keep ice cream cold. The bowl needs to be frozen through with no sound. The ice cream is chilled by this drum. When you're ready to make the ice cream, put the freezer bowl into the base of the ice cream machine, put the paddle in and put the top on, start the machine and then pour your cold ice cream mixture into the freezer bowl as it runs. The ice cream mixture is cold in the freezer bowl and the paddle scraper scrapers the sides of the bowl to remove the ice cream from the mixture. The machine should run for 20 minutes. Give it a peak every now and then because ice cream never freezes. The ice cream will be soft serve consistency and will be done as far as its adventure with the machine is concerned. The same amount of ice cream from two different brands is different. Most grocery store brands have little overhead compared to ultra premium brands. 👤We had a White mountain that died before this was bought. The container's lid is made of plastic that hangs down to catch the lip on the container and spin it as the motor turns. The motor is pushed off the lip by the ice against the bucket, meaning it is turning nothing but the lid and not the container. The baby is sitting the lid so it turns the canister. I'll probably modify the lid to work better myself, by the time the cream had any sort of thickness, the lid had no chance of catching the lip on the canister, so I just did it by hand. I would try to find a better ice cream maker for you.

If you don't, you would have to drive to another state to get ice cream and the drum wouldn't be ready to use. You should keep the ingredients out of the water for over an hour. The drum needs to be frozen and the ingredients chilled. It stirs it around until it gets solid. The "ice cream" comes out as a soft serve, even though the machine doesn't chill or cool the ingredients. I had high hopes for this machine, but it doesn't live up to them. If you want to make ice cream with specific ingredients, this might be the way to go. If you are going to use this machine to make ice cream, it is more trouble than it is worth.

The electric 6 quart was great for 6 or so batches and then the motor started screaming at me. The company replaced a warranty quickly. The drive gears are failing after about 12 batches. It is quieter than my other ones. I have a tv on my dinner table in my RV and I can hear it. I have to turn off the tv in the living room to hear it on the kitchen counter. It's quiet. It's own freezer is what it is. There was no mess with ice and salt. If you're not around when the freezer is finished, the part of the unit that starts up will keep it ready to eat for two hours. My ice cream maker is on its last leg after 2 years and 7 months. It starts a noise at the end of the ice cream cycle. I was given written instructions on how to access the gear box by Whynter. They didn't want to do that because it was out of warranty. I made three batches a month for the last two years. Unless you have insurance, it's probably not a good investment. It would have been easier if Whynter would have taken care of it.

I know the manual says that the mixture should not go above the things on the other side of the churner, but I found it better be a half inch below that. It still gets on the underside of the plastic cover, but at least it keeps the mix a bit lower and stops the bowl from overflowing. I think it wouldn't matter as the bowl seems to sit in a pretty tightly gasketed ring, so maybe I'm being overly cautious. I'm happy to get 2 quarts of ice cream instead of the 2.5 quarts it claims to make. After it has finished freeze-churning, add any mix-ins to it to get the most ice cream out of it. It is soft serve consistency when it is done. I mix in the mix ins and then turn it into a big bowl. I put the ice cream in the containers tightly and then covered it with a circle of paper and put it in the freezer. It can take less time if your ingredients are cold when they go into the bowl. If you come back in 60 minutes, the machine has stopped cranking and gone into chill mode. It will be more difficult to get the bowl out. The plastic spatula that comes with the machine is useful here. Try to hold the handle on both sides of the bowl close to the bowl's top, instead of at the top of the handle. Pull straight up, wiggling a tiny bit. The bowl will be tightly held to the frozen sides of the machine if you stopped your churning before it went into keep cold mode. Take the flat spatula and put it between the top of the bowl and the side of the machine. Move it back and forth. It will break the vacuum hold. If you do it more than once, try to pull it up again in different places around the bowl. Don't jam that thing down too far or back and forth. This has always worked for me. Most of my ice cream recipes include some kind of liqueur which will help it get so hard. It shouldn't be added until after it's gone into another bowl to add mix ins, as it can affect the freezing too early. Commercial ice cream has up to 25 percent more air whipped into it- more money for the manufacturers for less actual product- which makes it fluffier and less hard to store. You can either leave the liqueur out or make a more dense homemade one. It can be kept in a freezer that's part of your fridge as opposed to an upright or chest type freezer. Leave the beer out on the kitchen counter for 10 minutes to get it softened, and then dig in. Put it in a bowl and microwave for a few seconds. You can't go wrong, right? The machine's manual contains very few recipes that are useful to me. I went to their website but couldn't find anything. I got ice cream recipes from Amazon. Since I only make egg free ice creams, I have found only one book that has more great egg free recipes. David Lebovitz wrote the 'Perfect Scoop'. A nice book with great recipes and photos. A recent recipe I made was Peach, Vanilla, Pecan ice cream, which was sweetened with can sweetened Condensed Milk, 1 quart of half and half, and 3 cups of unpeeled peach puree. I don't remember how much this made, or if I added a cup of whole milk to it. The combo of sweetened Condensed milk, half and half and whole milk is an easy way to get ice cream fast. If you want to make chocolate without the peaches, you can add 4-5 TBS of Dutch process cocoa and 1/2 cup of hersheys syrup. Instead of nuts, add in 1/2 to a cup of mini chocolate chips or 2 to a cup of coffee liqueur, either a few minutes at the end or with the chips. Don't be afraid to try the mix before you freeze it. It's safe to eat because there are no eggs. It can be a choice to be most to your liking. I think this machine fits better in my kitchen than the wider one. It's not something you want to put on a lower shelf to pull up to the counter to use. This sucker will be sitting on my counter all summer long. I only need to make 16 batches of 4 pints each to pay for myself, it appears to be well made, quiet and easy to use. My husband and I can eat it all, but I think this machine will be able to manage that. It's been a great gift to friends.

The amount of base you end up with is to much for 1 full batches of ice cream without it spilling out of the container, as many reviews point out. I saw the most complaints in the review section. All solutions are dependent on the machine working correctly. Ice Cream spills over at the end of the freezing process. There is a solution. There are a few things you can do. You can take 1/2 cup of the Ice cream Base, but not the rest. You could make a small batches with the remaining base, but it would be better to make the recipe 50% larger. You can make two smaller batches of ice cream without the liquid spilling over. You could make 3 different batches of ice cream. I have used the Gelato Paddle to reduce the amount of air in the product. Problem solved. 2- The container gets stuck in the machine when it's finished. Answer- It takes a small amount of water to freeze a container. The solution's. The gear at the bottom of the container holds a lot of water. After washing between batches or before every use, blow very hard for a few minutes into the gear at the bottom of the container. You'll be amazed at how much water comes out. If you do another batches immediately after the first, make sure the machine is free of ice and condensation. You can check by wiping with a paper towel. If there is ice on the wall of the container or towel, you can wipe it out with a warm wet towel and then use a paper towel. You can warm the sides of the machine by putting some hot water in the Ice Cream Makers container. The small amount of condensation and thin layers of ice can be removed with this. You can either blow the water from the bottom of the Ice Cream Base container before you use it, or just sit the machine for a few minutes to get it closer to room temp, and then let it dry. Ice cream does not freeze in the stated amount of time. If you want your ice cream to be frozen in under an hour, cool your base down to 55f. The cooler the Ice cream base is when you start, the quicker it will freeze. 40 min is needed to be ready at 55f. If the exhaust for the machine is blocked, it may cause your ice cream to take longer to freeze. The machine is blowing 105f of air. If you don't have enough clearance for the exhaust or around the machine, it will warm the whole machine and cause it to take longer to freeze. Did you prepare the recipe well? My solution is to make an ice cream base with half and half instead of milk. It's easier to get the right consistency, richer in flavor and easier to get to thick when frozen, because of this. It takes more time, but it is worth it. I think so. The calories/fat content is the only downside to the style. I made a single batches that was just over 130 calories per tea spoon. That's Richard. I had a better idea of what features I was looking for after using the ICE-30, so I decided to use the ICE-70. The ICE 30 and ICE 70 are both loud, but the ICE 70 is quieter. It is noticeable, but not substantial. I don't want to be in the same room while I'm in the other room, but the ICE-30 was loud enough that I didn't want to be in an adjacent room. The ICE-70 is noticeably faster. I've read that the ICE-70 turns at 45 or 55rpm, while the ICE-30 turns at 22rpm. The faster the speed, the better the ice cream. I think the ice cream I get from my ICE-70 is slightly airier, and from the ICE-30 slightly more dense, but not a difference worth discounting. The ice cream is set up quicker when the speed is faster. It will take a few batches to get familiar with what is right, but once you see it, it's clear. I had more "soft" batches from the ICE-30, but I don't know if that's because it turns slower, or just because we weren't familiar with when the batches were ready yet. The mixing paddle for the ICE-60 and ICE-70 was updated by Cuisinart. It is easier to get the ice cream out of the container and to clean it. Not a big difference. I believe the ICE-70 paddle is available for $10, and it looks like it would fit the ICE-30 mixer, but don't quote me on that. At some point, I hope to test this. The cover is a lid. The ICE-30 has a larger fill spout for pouring in your cream and ingredients, but it is also open. The ICE-70 has a smaller fill spout and a cover. We used a plate to cover the spout to keep it out of the basement because of the noise. I like the built in spout cover in the ICE-70. Some users have complained that the lid doesn't stay on the ICE-70. The design on the ICE-30 is more secure. It's tempting to put the smaller ingredients in the freezer bowl before starting the mixer. This doesn't work well because the cream is frozen to the bottom of the bowl, the mixing paddle is not seated in the bottom, and the lid is not locked in. If I start the mixer with an empty bowl and pour the ingredients through the spout on the ICE-70, the lid stays locked firmly in place. I chose the ICE-70 over the ICE-60 because it was the only appliance in my house that was colored in the same color as my other small appliances. The ICE-70 has an automatic timer, but it's not necessary as you need to check on it every few minutes. You don't want to forget about it and come back to ice cream. There is a simple on/off switch. The ICE-60 has the same speed settings as the ICE-70, but there is no automatic timer. The one for the ICE-70 costs twice as much as the one for the ICE-30, and all three use the same freezer bowl. The color of the exterior might be different. The differences between the ICE-30, ICE-60, and ICE 70 are small, but they are significant enough to distinguish them. If the cost is a factor that would discourage you from buying the ICE-70, then I wouldn't discourage you from buying the ICE-30, but I think the ICE-70 is worth the price difference.

👤I've been making ice cream for a long time. I have many at home and at my restaurant. I needed a 6-quart out of season, and this was the only model I could find on Amazon. It must work well for $80. The unit shipped to me was not the best one, but it was the only one that was positive and it was my experience that the bucket is nice and the motor is quiet. The design of the dasher is a problem for me. The dasher is supposed to move along the inside wall of the ice cream vessel so close that it can hit the ice cream and then fall off again. The dash was so small that the ice cream base could freeze so firmly that the dasher would get stuck. After 15-20 minutes, the motor would stop, and there would be ice cream along the walls, with the rest of the base still liquid. I would have to remove the vessel, remove the walls, remove the frozen bits, replace the dasher, and deal with the same problem again in 10 minutes. The same thing happened when I backed off on the rock salt-to-ice ratio. I churned 6 batches of ice cream in this machine. The ice cream was hard and under-frozen. This problem wouldn't occur if the dasher was larger. I'm chalking it up to poor mechanical design. The unit is being returned.
