The full 2-year warranty was approved by the ETL. The 3.5 Amp motor is great for trimming grass. 12 in. The job is done fast with a cut path. Includes a 2 year warranty. It's ideal for edging and trimming grass in hard-to-reach areas. The edge head spins 180 degrees. A 3.5 Amp motor rotates at a speed of 10,000rpm. The weight is 4.0 pounds. The components included are: a trimmer/edger, a guard, and a feed Spool. While you're working, the cord retention system protects against accidental unplugging.
👤I bought this for my Light weight and it works great, I took it out of the box and plugged it in, I am a 63 year old woman.
👤I used the weed trimmer for the first time. This thing does a great job, I can't believe it! If you don't feel like bumping it on the sidewalk, you can just turn it over, press the middle part, and pull gently. The line does not seem to break off every two seconds, so I have better luck with this type of weed trimmer. I know that sometimes the dual line head sounds better, but I had better luck with this single line trimmer yesterday than I have had with a dual line, and this reminds me of when the weedeaters first came out. They were similar to this one. I had the best luck with them and the new trimmer. Even if I don't push on thetrigger, the automatic feed trimmers keep the line moving. I spend more time with an automatic feed trimmer than I did with the bump feed. Sometimes I can't do the job with the automatic feed, and I wasted more line with the automatic feed trimmer. The trimmer is so light that I can do this job without hurting my back. I am too small to handle a gas powered trimmer and the dual line automatic feed electric trimmers are too heavy. It feels like this particular trimmer was made for me, and I am very happy that I found it. I hurt my back a year ago, had surgery, and a lot of physical therapy, and am just now getting to where I can do things like light trimming. This trimmer gets an A+ from me.
👤This is the first weed trimmer I have ever used, so I have nothing to compare it to. I bought the trimmer to take down the weeds in the overgrown yard and then for regular edge trimming after that. I am 61 years old and have not much upper body strength. The pros are 1. I can use it for almost an hour before I give up. 2. I didn't want to depend on "rechargeable" batteries or the starter on a gas machine, and this just needs an extension cord and it starts. 3. The grass and weeds are cut. The cons are 1. It's short, I have to bend forward slightly for the entire time, but after 30 - 40 minutes it causes back pain, which isn't a problem for a few minutes. Is this model cheap because it is short or is it because it is? I'm not that tall, so I can't be the only one with this problem. 2. Some of the time, the bump mechanism works. I have to feed the line through and put it back together after cutting off the line for 20 minutes. 3. The cap is difficult to remove. "Press tabs to remove" can only be done with strength and dexterity. I chose this model as my first trimmer/edger because it's lightweight and good for learning how to use it. In the future, I will look for one with a longer handle and a line cap that is easier to remove.
GreenWorks model 29082 is compatible with the replacement spool. The easy feed allows you to advance your line with a push of a button. The Power Drive transmission and 6.5 Amp motor give the best performance when trimming through the toughest weeds, grass, and overgrowth. 2in1 Trim or Edge with wheeled edge guide can be used to convert from trimmer to edger. The lightweight design with height positions provides maximum comfort and control. Accidental cord disconnection is prevented by the cord retention system.
👤The cheap handle ruins a fine electric trimmer. The sting feed system is nice, but the handle is dangerous. The handle is made of flimsy plastic and will jump out of place. The first time I was not expecting it, it slipped out of its lock and dropped down on the lawn. The only way to make it work is to have the handle in the far back position and hold the trimmer at a very awkward angle that is tiring to hold for any length of time. The handle might slip up if you are careless. If they didn't cheap out on the handle, this would be a great corded trimmer.
👤The forward handle is held in place by a spring that is compressed. The natural frequencies of the spring and the spring trimmer are the same. Even though the handle is secure at rest, it will collapse at random times as the spring bounces around. You may have to drill a hole in your lawn. As long as the aliens are small, we know where the alien crop circles have been coming from. The spring isn't working its way out and so checking the trimmer occasionally to make sure the handle is secure is not beneficial. I missed the return window and would have returned it to Amazon. Rats. It may be difficult to remove the guard once it's in place. I don't know what I'm going to do with this. Reviewers mentioned this problem. I would not have bought it if I had known the severity of the problem. The handle and spring are not flimsy, but that they connect with the rotation of the trimmer. It would be easy to double the spring's rigidity, and it wouldn't take much force to make it compress. Please get to it, Black and Decker. If people can disassemble it, you'll get a lot of returns, so you shouldn't stock it until a fix is in place. I have not tried to disassemble it.
👤The center of the string reel is built out so it can't handle a lot of string, which is why it is out of string. I put more in and was on my way but it ran out quickly. I bought some extra reels and wound them up. It does a good job at cutting weeds. Didn't run into the handle, but could see how it would happen. I am happy with the size of my yard and the price. If you have a large yard, this may not be the one for you. It works in smaller yards.
👤It didn't work better than a cheap $25 one, and it only took 10 minutes to use it on a small amount of grass. I was so disappointed that I spent half a day's pay on something that didn't last a day. I had to pull it out each time I needed more line, and I had to take it apart several times to be able to use it more quickly.
Easy fatigue-free operation with multi-fingertrigger pull. 12 in. The path has a dual line auto feed head. When you need power, there is a variable speedtrigger. It was designed for superior balance. The auxiliary handle has been adjusted for added user comfort. It is compatible with the Greenworks G-MAX 40V. The Li-Ion system can be used for longer run time and higher efficiency. The battery and charger are included. Your investment is protected by a 4-year tool warranty and a 2-year battery warranty.
👤I like the line trimmer. Not having to mix gas and oil is a plus. Their lack of support is the reason for the one star review. The battery has a charge indicator. I called support because it did not work. You never knew if you had been disconnected when you were on hold for 10 minutes. I sent an email to their support group. I hit submit and was told it was unable to submit and try later. I tried two more times. I am on the phone again with the same results. If I'm on the phone too long, I'll pack the mess up and send it to Amazon. This is not fair to Amazon and a PITA for me. I hope Greenworks corporate will see this and give me a better solution. I might up the rating if that happens. There are many manufacturers of line trimmers that want my business. There is an update. I talked to a person on the phone. She explained that the BCI feature didn't work, and then talked to her manager, who said they wouldn't replace it because the battery held a charge. This would be like buying a refrigerator with a light that didn't come on and being told that it still gets cold so we won't fix it. Customer service has value, I hope someone in corporate knows that.
👤I bought a Greenworks 20-Inch 40V Mower, it's ok, you can read my review here. I decided to kill two birds with one stone after buying a gas powered trimmer. The trimmer is great. I can mow the perimeter of the house using 50% of the battery, which leaves me enough juice to complete the mowing. The auto-feed works well. The main complaint I can see is that the shaft is a fixed length and someone shorter may have an issue with it. I can't complain that it works for me. The trimmer is very powerful and gets the job done. I bought it on sale and can't complain anymore. Five stars. The trimmer is still awesome after a year of use. Please let me know if my review helped you by clicking the helpful button below. Feel free to ask any questions you have.
👤This is a real WEED WHACKER. The bomb does not play around. Be warned, it whacks everything in its path. I love it because it cuts my work time in half. I bought a new machine because of the $150 replacement battery, and I'm glad I did. The double line makes a big difference, and the battery lasts two hours. I've been using it for about 3 weeks. I used to have to stop and take things apart to get them out of harms way, because lillies with heavy leaves can pull at the motor and shorten its running time. It is long, but I can reach under bushes easily. I'm a 71 year old woman with not very strong arms, but I can handle it. The GreenWorks product is A+ in my book.
If you have a problem with their product like battery issue or blade replacement, please feel free to contact them and they will reply within 24 hours. They are here to fix the problem. Text Sun Joe to ask questions. It's ideal for trimming around small yards, town house lots, flower beds, walkways, patios and stones. Light weight: The compact is only 3.7 lbs. The motor cuts a 10-inch swath in one pass. Push a button and it will start. It's ERGONOMIC. Therest handle reduces wrist fatigue. The Semi-Automatic Feed Spur: At start-up, it cuts string automatically.
👤My rating is mostly based on cost. We have a small front yard. The elbow rest/cantilever made one arm operation possible because the little trimmer was powerful enough to cut through tall grass. Drawbacks? It is very short. If you are over 5'5 you will be a bit stooped. The trimmer's plastic construction may make it a heavier duty machine. It was a steal and we don't need more than this.
👤It doesn't hold enough. The weed eater does not have an angle adjustment. It is only good for light duty. It has the best cord feed system I have ever used.
👤20? seriously? This thing could start my car. I saw a 4.5 Amp one and I didn't need it. This guy is 20 dollars. Yes... I can weed whack a tree with this guy. I pay 100 for it.
👤It works well, but it would be nice if the handle was on the trimmer. I usually end up pulling the string on my own when using the auto feeders. It's not bad for the price.
👤The string trimmer is right for the price. It is easy to use for small jobs. The handle with brace is functional and I would have liked a second hand hold.
👤I wish I didn't trash the box because the machine still needs the secondary handle and the spindle is small.
👤It is a toy. Not enough power to cleanly trim and the line snaps at the tension, no one carries the spools. Get a real trimmer and spend more money.
👤I tried to get the hood back on, but it fell off, so I guess you get what you pay for.
The battery and charger are not sold together. The edging wheel allows for edging and trimming. Electric start eliminates gas hassle, less maintenance and fumes. The path has a single line auto feed for easy line advance. The model 29252 and 29092 are compatible with the 40 inch compatible Greenworks replacement spool. There are compatible battery models 29842 and 29852. The drive shaft type isTelescoping.
👤I don't know how I didn't notice, but this doesn't auto-feed string well. Most trimmers have a simple option which this unit does not. I assumed all trimmers had auto feed. You have to start/stop the trimming many times to make the string feed. It's pretty annoying and doesn't seem to work. I already had 4A, 24V batteries. I was a little worried at first, but this unit does a great job. The battery lasts 45 minutes or so and I have plenty of time for my small yard. The edges and trims are perfect. This is a great option for smaller yards. I would have had to run through two or three full charges to complete the yardwork. It will take more time if you want to go this route. If you don't want to chop down your flowers or plants, the guard is useful. It is easy to flip to an edger once you are in that mode. Extra string and cover is nice. If you only have one battery, the batteries charge quickly.
👤I will return this thing first. My lawn mower is battery operated. I was looking forward to the features they boasted about. Nothing about the string assembly makes sense. I don't want to spend half my day clicking the power on and off to advance the string. It is a weak, thin string to begin with. It is pointless to trim and edge because it wears down so fast. I gave up halfway through my yard. My old 12V Black and Decker ran circles around this thing. Don't buy it!
👤I gave this string trimmer two stars because it is strong. The loose lower handle can't tighten further but constantly falls off, and it takes a lot of pressure to keep the handle depressed, so I knocked it off for three stars. I don't recommend this trimmer.
👤I bought this item for my husband to replace our gas weed eater/trimmer when we replaced our gas powered lawn mower after the repair would cost more than a new mower. The weed eater has not let us down. I am very happy with this purchase. The weed eater has a rechargeable battery that doesn't make it uncomfortable to hold, and it's a battery-operated weed eater. If you already have a weed eater, I wouldn't recommend it. I would have preferred to get the slightly larger one so that the battery was interchangeable with our lawn mower, but this one is a different battery and charger. GreenWorks offers several smaller items like the drill, and this battery fits them. We haven't had to replace the weed eater yet, but we've been using it weekly since mid April and haven't had to replace it yet. There is a guide for the string and a guard on the weed eater that you can use to edge without hitting flowers. The weed eater is light enough to be used for a short period of time, and the battery lasts for about 45 minutes. The low end is when we use it in larger patches of weeds. The weed eater we replaced was heavy and expensive. GreenWorks is a good quality built product, and it wasn't nearly as expensive as we thought. I'm a lifelong customer and I'm impressed.
Accidental cord disconnection is prevented by the cord retention system. Text Sun Joe to ask questions. The 4-amp motor is powerful. The maximum cutting size is 13 inches. It's ERGONOMIC. The handle adjusts for comfort. The flower guard protects against accidental contact. The full 2-year warranty was approved by the ETL.
👤The product worked great. I ordered replacement spools from Amazon. The only place I could find them was in the negative reviews, so I ordered them. Did the string melt? A pocket knife can fix anything. Is it possible that it fed easily? Like other spool reviews. I read the instructions and took the old spool off and put the new one on. Between melting and not feeding, it got to the point where I had to manually unwound the string from the spool. I can usually figure it out. Not this time. I decided to take a swing at reenacting a scene from the movie Office Space because I knew there was no way I was going to continue owning this POS product. It helped to get the weed eater into a form factor that would fit in my garbage can. This is a waste of money. You should skip this weed eater. Before you buy a weed eater, check out the reviews for the spools. I would have liked to have.
👤Every year I buy a new trimmer. There is something wrong with them. They cut the line. gas trimmers are hard to start. I have gotten rid of them all. We can't get our riding mower in our small fenced backyard because the grass is too tall, and our small push mower isn't up to the task. The reviews were good, and it was cheap, so I ordered it. It's the best trimmer I've ever used. My adult son has difficulty using equipment. He handled it well. The string didn't tangle, and it cut down the tall grass so we could have the yard sprayed. It's easy to use because of the rotating shaft. The only problem we had was that the extension cord kept falling out, but I think it was because we were using a cord that was too wide for the opening. The company made it easy to register the product. I ordered a six pack of replacement string because our local Home Depot carries the trimmer, but not the replacement pack. I will probably not use six of them in the next three years, but it's a small price to pay for the ease of use. I will recommend this product to my friends and family.
👤March 2019. Who knows what kind of volunteers are in the yard with weeds and stalks. The first trim weeds were high. Within 30 minutes, the trim was finished. 2 weeks later, the weeds grow 4". It took less than 10 minutes. The auto feed works well, the grip is easy to use, and the extension cord does not fit in the upper grip handle slot. Plug in after knotting the cord around the grip. It's not a big deal. After a few minutes, it gets heavy. The belts were tied together to form a loop. One end of the hook is attached to a slide handle. It works well to balance trimmer.
👤If you only use it on a regular base and don't want to run a company with it, then this is a steal.
The power command family of tools helps solve common user problems when using outdoor power equipment. The components include: LSTE520 20V max easy feed trimmer, LBXR20 20V max batteries, LCS1620 Charger, Guard, and Spool. The G-MAX 40V battery has no memory loss after charging. The cutting path is 13 inches long and has powerful results to cut through the toughest weeds. The design has a 3-position head for easy trimming. 8000rpm 90 degree rotating head with edging wheel for walk behind edging. The 0.065-inch single line auto feed is very fast.
👤After reading some of the one star comments, I was a little suspicious of this tool. The tool took less than 10 minutes to operate after it was received. One review said it was hard to change the black handle to different positions. The 2 pivot points on the tool give you a wide array of positions. The auto feeder works by pausing operation for a few seconds and then spitting out the string as it slows down. Some people shouldn't operate power tools if they don't know how to use them. The comments were negative. I was able to trim and switch over to my blower without a charge in between, because I have an average size yard. Great tool. There are 2 more comments about the negative reviews. The tool has a lot of weight at the bottom, which makes it hard to operate. That is true until you put the battery in. It becomes a balance tool. The handle is flimsy. I think it would be if you didn't put it in place. The best weed trimmer is $50.00. Have a great day.
👤I replaced the trimmer line that came with the unit. I'm using RINO-TUFF. I picked up a universal trimmer line. The problem with the supplied line is that it was fused together in multiple places on the spool, which is a manufacturing defect. There are a lot of places where it can't feed off the spool. If you rewind the entire line and then unwound it, the places where the line was fused to an adjacent winding are weakened so they break too easily. I used the RINO-TUFF line that I already had for use on my previous trimmer, which died after decades of use, instead of the line that came with it. The trimmer works perfectly now. It doesn't really "automatically feed" the line, but it will advance it about 1/2 inch each time you start the unit. I don't agree with the reviews that it is not well balanced, as you can easily adjust the handle to change the balance, but I found it to be well balanced in the middle of the range. I advise GreenWorks to look at the spools getting shipped as this is likely the cause of many of the complaints I've seen. If I hadn't used the RINO-TUFF line, I would have returned the whole unit.
👤I ordered the extendable hedge trimmer and the 40V blower. I like all 3 products. I read reviews before I go and saw that people were complaining about the auto feeder. When I took it out for a test spin, I was worried about the weeds. The string kept going down to nothing after the auto feeder wasn't working. After a couple of frustrating minutes trying to figure out why it wouldn't feed, I came inside and did a quick search of other reviews online and found one that said the auto feed doesn't work when you have thetrigger pulled at full blast. I tried it again and it worked well. You can feather out in a few seconds. If you want to be fine, just ease up on the power and you'll be fine.
Refer to the "Warranty & Support" section for full details. The motor is high performance to tackle tough overgrowth. The pole has turn to edge capability. The push button feed system allows you to control the feed with a push of a button. A wheeled edger is used to turn from trimming to edging quickly. 14inches cutting swath with single 0.065inches line There are 2 replacement Spools in this package.
👤Plug it in and go. If I can do it, so can you.
👤It is difficult to use the edging function with the wheel part. Maybe it's me, I've never used one before. It would be better for a left handed person. It works great as a weed whacker. It didn't bother me at all. It has power. It's hard to tell how far out the line is with the button, but the feed is nice. I let out too much. Happy with it so far.
👤This was thrown in the trash after being cut. The line feed system is not feasible. When you press the feed button, it doesn't feed when you don't want it to. You spend more time fighting this than cutting the grass. I spent a lot of money on this. A machine that works will be a better buy.
👤Trash! The line is weak so I took 30 minutes to edge it. I'm done with it. I'll be here all day to do nothing else.
👤It's easy to use and fix jams a lot. It takes longer to trim the yard because of the jams.
👤It has a short shaft which makes it difficult to use.
👤This product worked perfectly after some major failures. Just what I needed.
👤If you start further away from your plug in point, cord can't get in the way. I don't think I will have any issues yet, it works just fine.

The POWERCOMMAND Family of tools helps solve common user problems when using outdoor power equipment. LB2X3020 20V is included with the LSTE523 20V MAX Cordless Trimmer/Edger. The MAX extended battery has a Charger, a Spool, and a Guard. A 20 watt max battery has power and runs longer. The dual action blade is 22 inches long. The branches can be cut up to 1/3 inches. You can work longer and complete the job with the ergonomics. The cutting strokes are part of the max system.
👤I recently upgraded all my black and decker tools to the newer 20v style with smaller batteries. I discovered something about this one that I really wanted when I looked at the different hedge trimmers. There is a button on top. I liked my last hedge trimmer. I gave it to my daughter in law who did not have one. When it got jammed, I had to stop and unjam it. I could work out the jam with the button. I was sold. The one I bought had a 20v battery and a charger. The battery was fully charged in less than two hours after I plugged it in. The batteries are small and the chargers are small. The light flashes while it's charging and then is a steady light when it's fully charged. I had to put the guard on. The instructions said that the screws were in the unit. It was hard to get out of the hole. I removed the screws and screwed them in the handle and guard, even though I was afraid of doing so. It only took me a few minutes. The weight balances out and the trimmer fits in my hands. I'm an older female. I had no problem using this tool. I tried it out this morning and it cut my bushes like butter. So easy! The 22" size is big enough that you can finish a job quickly but not so big that you can't round out bushes that need to be rounded. It was easy to work with. You can press the button to keep the blades from cutting if you push in a thing. If it works better for you if you are left or right handed, then it makes getting started easier. You don't have to turn it off because the button to release a jam is right on top. The button slows down the action so it can either cut through or allow you to move the trimmer. I don't have a lot to trim, and my battery didn't slow down while I was using it. I can't wait to trim again. A new toy. Paying a little more for the added feature is totally work. Thanks for reading my review, I was very happy with my purchase.
👤The 20V MAX series from Black & Decker has four tools in it. I'm starting to like it. It works as advertised. I trimmed my 5' bushes with ease, even cutting through some branches that were as thick as 1/2. It's simple to operate, and the battery lasts an hour. The grips are pretty comfortable, so you won't wear yourself out holding it. It feels strong and reliable. It makes as much noise as a regular hedge trimmer, and weighs the same. There isn't anything bad to say about it. The price I paid was fair. There are disagreements. I have no excuse to not trim the bushes.
👤I love this hedge trimmer. The hedges surround the front and side of the house. The trimmer did the entire job with one battery, and it cut through the toughest branches of my hedges. The PowerCut feature was great, I used it twice. I have the B & D 12" 3-in-1 Trimmer/Edger and Mower and wanted a third battery. I paid a little more for the trimmer because I got my third battery, but I think it's because the hedge trimmer comes with a battery. I hated pulling out the 100ft extension cord when I was using an electric trimmer. I just grabbed the B & D trimmer, popped a battery in it, and trimmed my hedges in less than an hour. The 22" blade was the perfect length for my reach across the top of the hedges, and the trimmer is light in weight, compared to what I'm used to. It was worth the cost.
It's best used for small gardens, hedge grooming and areas your mower cannot reach. There are 2 tools in the first. Quickly and easily, convert from grass shear to hedger. The blade length is 4 inches. The battery life is a 7.2 V battery for hassle-free operation. Light weight: The design is lightweight and easy to control. They have you covered. The Snow Joe is behind your new grass shear/hedge trimmer. New, powered products will be valid for two years from the date of purchase. There were no questions asked. Contact Snow Joe.
👤I received a trimmer. It looks okay but it is missing something. The attached snapshot shows a caution found in the instructions. When it's fully charged, it doesn't automatically shut down the charger. Instead it gives us a warning. When it's fully charged, take it off the charger. It takes about 5 hours for a full charge, so I couldn't just put it on overnight. How would anyone know how long it would take until you paid attention the next day? It says to replenish it after use so it doesn't get stored for a long time. If I use the trimmer for half an hour and it doesn't have an automatic charging shutdown feature, am I supposed to watch it for hours when I go to charge it? Who knows when it would be convenient to look at the thing after charging it. The charging shutdown feature can be found on our phones. I think it's deficient to sell the trimmer without a feature. When the package is opened, surprise the buyer. I think I'm being reasonable. This isn't fair.
👤When I purchased the Sun Joe 7.2V battery operated 2 in 1 Hedge/Grass Clipper, I kept the positive reviews in mind and am not disappointed. I am very happy. I am a senior citizen and recently widowed, and I can manage yard tools, which makes it possible to keep the yard looking its best. I have a row of hedges that needed a haircut. I have struggled with heavy clippers powered by my arm muscles and it has been tiring. It was my first time with my clippers and it was amazing. The Sun Joe helped me buzz through my entire row of boxwoods and it was easy to maintain the shape and evenness I like. I wanted to trim everything after attacking the vine on the other side of the house. I was completely satisfied with the performance of the Sun Joe, as well as the battery life, which was still going when I was ready to quit. Thank you Sun Joe!
👤I only use this trimmer to trim the boxwood in my foundation planting. I shape them into orbs. I wanted a small, hand-held trimmer that would give me the perfect shape. This trimmer won't cut the leaves at the surface even if I apply many angles or use other trimming techniques. If I were interested in hacking at the boxwoods, the trimmer's cutting ability might be put to better use. This thing is useless for just trimming. I don't know how that works, I didn't try using the attachment. I think the unit is well-made. It doesn't fit in with my job requirements. I originally rated this trimmer 2 stars, for the reasons cited earlier. I would like to rate it 4 stars. The only task I bought this for was to trim 6 boxwood in front of my house. The attachment was not effective. The grass trimmer worked well after I tried it. I would not have thought that the grass trimmer could do such a good job. I apologize for the original review. Sun Joe customer service contacted me and offered to do whatever it would take to make me happy. The company was more impressive than the product.
The operator's manual includes a 12 inch string trimmer, an auxiliary handle, guard, edge guide, and a Spool cover. The shaft can be adjusted to fit the user. Convenient lock to prevent accidental unplugging. The construction is lightweight. A 3 year warranty is included.
👤I have a small yard with 10 x 10 in the back and a small patch in the front of our drive way, so I bought this trimmer. This was an easy solution since we received a notice to clean up the yard. The package was put together in the original box from GreenWorks. This is more effective than repackaging. Assembly was very easy if you know how to use a phillips head screwdriver. This is an electric trimmer, so it will need an extension cord to use. It was not clearly stated on the website, but it's not a big deal since it's $5-10). I used this to hack down the weeds in my backyard in about twenty minutes. This thing has a lot of power and is very easy to use. If you need a simple solution like the one I had, this is the trimmer for you. It is fairly priced and will get the job done right the first time. I write reviews to help other people. If you found the review helpful, please let us know. Thanks!
👤I have been using the first GreenWorks 21212 4Amp 13-Inch Corded String Trimmer for three years. I live on the edge of the high desert in Oregon and I have been cutting my entire 12 acre property with one of these. This includes wire fences, rock gardens and iron weeds. These are great tools. There are a few things you need to know to make them work. The automatic advance only works when you use both strings. Various companies sell replacement spools that don't fit the trimmer. If you forget them, you can get a 200-300 spool of.065. I have not tried the edging string, so I have to re-wind the original spool. The arrow on top of the spool will tell you which direction to go. Both strings are wound the same way. You can start the string in the spool by slipping the string in the same direction you want it to wind. The string is locked in place. Once you have the sting loaded, how to get the trimmer to advance. Understand that the trimmer doesn't have a sensor that tells it to let out more string. The string is advanced each time the power is turned off. You will hear a click before it stops. The strings will advance when you give it power again. You can start the trimmer as many times as you please until you want them. You can advance the strings manually by turning the trimmer on its handle and looking at the spool for a black button. The string will advance if you play with it. The trimmer has a motor that is 4 Amps, which means there is brush or thick weeds that you can't get through without the motor straining. You can work around it. Go to a single string. The automatic advance won't work with only one string. You will have to do it manually. This will allow you to cut thicker grass and weeds.
